Police have issued a warning to parents this week about a horror video game which features images young children could find disturbing.

Online safety experts were alerted to a video game, called Poppy Playtime, which features evil toys following and attempting to catch the game’s protagonist, as they solve puzzles. Experts have described it as an 'introduction to horror’ and are warning parents that these threatening characters may cause children to become frightened of their own toys, affecting their mental health.

Though the game is only available for PCs, police and online safety experts have discovered numerous copycat versions that are not age-restricted and are easily accessible for children to download and play.
