POLICE are appealing for information after Stanley knife blades were found in horse feeding troughs in an outbuilding at a smallholding in Germansweek.

An intruder broke into an outbuilding where horses are stabled and after rummaging around, apparently left the knife blades in the feeding troughs.

The incident happened sometime overnight, between 7.30pm on Thursday, April 19 and 8am on Friday, April 20.

‘Luckily this was spotted by the horse owners. As you can imagine, this was quite distressing for them. CCTV is now being put up around the property for evidential purposes,’ said PCSO Lisa Smith from Okehampton Police.

She added that the police would like to hear from anyone in the Germansweek and Beaworthy area who had seen anything suspicious.

‘Also, police would like to remind the public to secure their outbuildings and animals at night and when they are not around,’ she said.

‘Please report anything suspicious to the police either on the 101 number, the Devon and Cornwall Police website or the Okehampton Police Facebook page.’
