THE work being carried out at Castle Ham Lodge in?Okehampton was under the spotlight at a community open day on June 30.

Castle Ham Lodge officially opened in October 2011, following the Guinness Partnership's redevelopment of the site.

Providing an extra care housing scheme of 50 flats purposefully built for older people, Castle Ham also provides additional facilities for the community, including a hairdressers, consultations rooms, café, gardens, courtyard and three multi-purpose activity rooms.

The lodge opened its doors to the community on June 30, inviting people to come and have a look at the many facilities on offer. The occasion was also used as a fundraiser to help pay for the improvement of one of the building's assisted bathrooms.

On the day, £320 was raised for the project. Castle Ham's next fundraising project is for a computer, to teach residents and members of the community how to use the internet.
