AN Okehampton family are participating in the Exeter abseil to raise funds for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund.

Liz Westlake, whose leukaemia is being monitored at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, will participate in the abseil alongside her husband Keith and daughter Abbey.

Liz said: 'As an out-patient and a member of the Okehampton ELF Supporter Group I truly appreciate the marvellous work which is done at the Royal Devon and Exeter haematology centre, which is brilliantly supported by Exeter Leukaemia Fund.

'While a little daunting, the challenge is small compared to the challenges which many people with leukaemia and other blood cancers have to endure.'

Dale Edwards, CEO of ELF said: 'Liz is brilliant. Not only has she agreed to participate in the abseil, she has sorted, cleaned and banked in excess of £3,000 of loose change from the wishing wells at Otter Nurseries and Crealy Devon, which was a tremendous undertaking.

'I wish her and all the abseil daredevils an enjoyable and rewarding experience.'

The abseil takes place at Princesshay car park in Exeter on Saturday May 7. Registration to participate costs £25, with each participant pledging to raise a minimum of £50 for ELF.
