Oke Ladies seconds 2

Plymouth University thirds 0

IN dynamic fashion Sophie Whiteley led her team from centre half encouraging her new players while intercepting and distributing the ball well.

Katie Graves, playing out of position, burst through the University defence with her penetrating runs but was unable to convert this attacking pressure into goals. Right half Nat Dennis played with purpose and determination dropping back to defend but niftily changing to attacking play when chances appeared. Okehampton were still goal-less when the half time whistle blew but began the second half goal-hungry!

Millie Westwood, playing her first game for the club at left half, was comfortable marking her attacking Uni player tightly and showed confidence in attack.

Oke forwards Eve Colton and Amanda Sim linked well posing problems for the Uni defence but it was Oke's left wing Annette Goswell who broke the deadlock when she tapped a rebound from the keeper's pad into the back of the net.

This was the inspiration that Oke needed and they were soon on the attack again looking for a second goal.  Sophie Cunnington, who had battled hard, was rewarded when she picked up the ball in a goal-mouth scuffle and claimed her goal.

In the last 10 minutes of the game the University team piled on the attack.  Oke's U14 player Katy Adams, in her debut match for the senior team, kept her cool and defended in style, snuffing out several goal scoring attempts leaving the Oke team with a 2-0 win.
