OKEHAMPTON Argyle Ladies' Football Club showed off their new kit and equipment, when they celebrated their second home game of the season last month.

The club held a fundraising day at the Exeter Arms in the summer to raise money for their team.

The money raised enabled the club to purchase new training equipment, medical supplies and match day footballs.

Secretary for Okehampton Argyle Ladies' Football Club Karen King said: 'Due to the current economic status we thought it would be unfair to ask local companies to donate money to the club, but the Exeter Arms have kindly sponsored us this year and provided us with polo shirts for the team to wear.

'It was a great afternoon with a barbecue, quiz, raffle and karaoke and we raised around £450, but could not have done it without the help and support of the Exeter Arms and all the local companies that kindly donated prizes to our raffle.'

This year the team are playing in the Westward Developments Women's league one and also play on the main pitch in Simmons Park on Sundays.

They currently have around 30 players signed on and a regular 18 who train every week.
