FRESH from their success providing artwork for The White Hart Hotel, Okehampton Primary School has their third art exhibition in the John Young Gallery at the Museum of Dartmoor Life.

With funding from the Dartmoor Section of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS), local ceramicist Susan Eckles and Okehampton Primary School artist in residence Luna Fae Burrell worked with a group of children on the theme of The Two Rivers. Some spectacular art resulted, including a stream of leaping salmon.

The results of the project are on show at the museum throughout the summer holidays.

Okehampton Mayor Cllr Jan Goffey, a member of NADFAS, worked on the literacy project alongside the art and in her mayoral guise expressed delight to open the exhibition.

Cllr Goffey said: ‘The Museum of Dartmoor Life is a wonderful little museum in the heart of Okehampton and as you can see from the pictures here, the standard of work is amazing so do come and see it this summer!’

Anne Russell, a trustee of the museum said the museum valued this collaborative exhibition and as it would be open throughout the summer holidays, the museum looked forward to welcoming many visitors.

As usual there will be special activities for children throughout the summer.
