IN reply to Mr Todd, who wrote (February 7) about car parking fees in Daventry or lack of them; the reason is that if Daventry Council did charge for parking there would be no-one using Daventry, because there are no shops to speak of since Tesco moved there. The high street is dead, apart from banks and building societies, bookies and charity shops; also, at least three of the car parks are destined to be built on in the near future.

If this is what Mr Todd would like to happen in Okehampton then bring it on, but be careful what you wish for.
