D & E FL Division 1
Chagford 7
Honiton Town 2
WITH two new signings and top scorer Steve Scott making the team, Chagford were hoping to take something from this bottom of the table clash.
Both sides opened with attacking intentions and it appeared to be a mere matter of time before the first goal went in. Within eight minutes Chagford took the lead. Robbie Miller saw his shot well saved but, at the second time of asking, Jon de Cruz followed up to bundle the ball home.
Honiton battled back and Saul Scarry had to be alert to collect or turn away a couple of smart shots. Emanuel and Scott both screwed chances wide in quick succession before Andrew Davis doubled the home lead. Jon de Cruz sent in a fine ball for Scott who set Davis up for a fine finish.
Newcomers Steve Kinsey and Matt Mortimer were playing influential roles, Kinsey prompting in attack and Mortimer sound in defence. Kinsey had a crisp shot smartly saved, Miller and Scott missed reasonable chances.
The visitors were still creative forcing the home defence into some crucial tackles and blocks, in their own area. Chagford were able to increase their dominanace gradually with further goals from Steve Scott (2), Oscar Emanuel, Jon Scarry and an own goal, despite Joe Webber pulling back a couple of goals for Honiton.
A better display by Chagford who now travel to Witheridge, in the hope of putting a decent run together.
Kick off 3pm.
