THERE was a big birthday celebration for a woman well known in the Okehampton area through her voluntary work.
Yvonne King has lived in the area since the 1960s, firstly in?Northlew and then Folly Gate.
She initially assisted her husband,?Jack, in running their drapery and clothing business, Nash's of Okehampton, in the Victorian Arcade, with five retail units and a travelling van for country rounds.
Yvonne, who celebrated her 90th birthday in the Church Rooms, Northlew, with friends and family spanning five generations, has worked in a voluntary capacity for organisations including the family planning clinic, Mencap, Oxfam, the Inner Wheel and cricket clubs.
