AN Okehampton youngster has celebrated his 18th birthday with a charity haircut.
Peter Bragg had been growing his hair for more than three years. During this time he had steadfastly refused to have it cut despite pleas from his mum Rhiannon.
With university interviews looming and volunteering duties with St John Ambulance, Peter decided it was time to lose his long locks while raising money for charity.
On his 18th birthday, March 15, Peter climbed into a salon chair at Quinns Hairdressers, and had most of his long locks cut off.
Having set himself an initial fundraising target of £300 to be donated to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, he ended up smashing his target thanks to generous donations from friends and relatives, raising an impressive £613.
Peter said: 'I can't believe how supportive everyone's been, its really great and I'd like to say a huge thank you.
'The new hair style's gone down very well and I'm really pleased to have raised so much money.'
Peter expressed his thanks to Hayley and everyone at Quinns, the staff at Hatherleigh Primary School and everyone who supported his fundraising efforts.
