A MEMORY café in Winkleigh helping people with dementia remember their past has received a boost from Waitrose. Winkleigh Memory Café, set up a year ago, has received a cheque for £241 to support its work helping people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. The cafe offers an informal setting to access support and information from volunteers and health professionals. It also gives an opportunity to share experiences with others that are dealing with dementia and make new friends. Volunteer Philippa Lausen said: 'Donations like this are very important. One of the things we may use it for is to invest in an iPad. We had an iPad session recently, and it went down very well, allowing our users to look things up, look at the past and help them to remember things.' The Okehampton store is looking for more charities and organisations to take part in the scheme. To find out more, visit the help desk in store, or call 01837 659008, asking for Theresa Edwards.
