CAPTAIN's Day took place on Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club where more than 100 competitors took part in a four ball better ball, greensomes and foursomes competition.
All proceeds from the day went to captain Mike Hutchinson's chosen charities — Dartmoor Search and Rescue and the Seve Ballesteros Foundation. In first place after countback with 43 points were Will Kinkead and Aaron West from in second place Kevin Cornwall and Malcolm Hill; third were father and son Arnie and Will Searle with 42. Best mixed pair was won by Dave and Mary Keir with 40pts, best ladies by Jenni Hutchinson and Cherry James with 32 and best mens by Richard Johnson and Phil Martin.
For the ladies the Lady Captain's Day last month was played in superb weather. The winners were Penny Deakin, Mary Keir and Marcia Jones with 77 points; second on 73 points were Cherry James, Doris Jewell and Eileen Piper.
The Creasey Team lost away at Teignmouth but won the return match four days later.
The President's team are making good progress in their division with one match left to play.
Marcia Jones and Marcia Guy have gone through to the next round in the Doris Willes-Little after winning against Thurlstone. They now progress to the semi-finals and finals which will be held at Bigbury.
Pam Jarman came second in the Devon County silver division at Stover resulting in a handicap reduction to 17.
Adrian Tilley and Janice Thwaites won the Douglas Bader competition and now go on to the regional final at Stover later in the year.
The ladies' Margaret Down trophy was won by Lin Atkinson with an excellent gross 83 net 68. The Peacock silver salver was won by Abbey Turner with a net 74 and the bronze salver was won by Michelle Abel with a net 69.
