A YOUNG man from Plymouth will walk from Okehampton to Ivybridge to support a project that tackles poverty in Nepal.

Jack Robinson will work in partnership with Nepali volunteers to help lift some of the world’s poorest communities out of poverty.

Jack and his friend Jack Fowles will be tackling the 27 mile trek on Saturday, March 10 (weather permitting).

There is also a night of music planned, where Jack with his friends and family will be performing. The location of the music night is yet to be decided, as is the date.

The money Jack raises will help to make sure that communities in developing countries continue to benefit from the work of future volunteers.

Jack said: ‘I’m very excited about going to Nepal and helping in rural communities. This is the first time I’ve volunteered overseas so it’s going to be a completely new experience.

‘I will be helping on projects such as improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and increasing communities’ capability to withstand and overcome environmental, economic and social challenges. I’m very excited to be involved in such a brilliant project.’

‘I’ve already raised more than £360 from online fundraising and I’m hoping that the Dartmoor trek and music night will take me a lot closer to my £800 target. This is my first time fundraising so I really hope it goes well. Any donation is hugely appreciated, and will make a real difference.’
