THE funds of All Saints Parish Church will receive a boost tomorrow (Friday) thanks to an auction of promises.

Parishioners and their friends have promised a wide range of things for the auction, from gardening and dog walking to music lessons and holidays. The evening will also feature a wide range of puddings to sample, and a licensed bar.

Rector of Okehampton the Rev Stephen Cook said: 'We are very grateful to all the people who have made promises of various kinds, including some very imaginative ones.

'We are in a bit of a hole with our finances as a church and this is one way we are trying to climb out of it.  Everyone is welcome to turn up and make a bid, or if you can't make it to reserve one.'

The auction takes place in the Church Hall on Market Street on Friday November 9 from 6.30pm. Lists of bids and reserve forms are available in Donald's Menswear, the town post office and from church members.
