I WOULD like to thank Shaun Duggan (January 17) and Ann Hills (January 24) for their recent letters regarding the recycling of cardboard. I thought it would be helpful to clarify the situation.

Thick brown card that does not fit into the recycling boxes can be put out with garden waste collections. Unfortunately, we are unable to take coloured card with this collection. Large pieces of coloured card can be cut or torn into manageable pieces so they fit into the recycling box.

As an alternative, large pieces of coloured cardboard can be taken to the local recycling centres at Tavistock or Okehampton. We are planning to introduce card banks shortly at more convenient locations across the borough.
