MAY I thank the customers of Waitrose in Okehampton and the company and staff for raising £608 towards the work of this charity during April 2009.
We were very surprised by such generosity and are delighted by the confidence placed in us to continue to help older people live their lives to the full.
As one response we have planned a Silver Surfers' Day on Friday June 19 between 10.30am and 3.30pm at our IT centre next to the charity shop at 2 Crediton Road, Okehampton.
We want to give those people who have never seen what a computer can do a ten-minute introduction, free refreshments and the opportunity to attend a free taster session on June 26.
The first 20 people to sign up will be given a complimentary copy of the highly popular book 'Computing and the Older Generation' which has guided many, including those under 50, in discovering the benefits of using a computer.
We hope that we can meet those who might be nervous of using a computer and tempt them to have a go.
