COMMUNITY groups from Winkleigh, South Zeal, Sticklepath and Okehampton played their part in helping to tidy up Meldon Reservoir.
South West Lake Trust countryside warden Paul Lott spent a windy day at Meldon Reservoir recently working with volunteers from Little Acorns at Winkleigh, Meadowcroft in South Zeal and Lyric House in Okehampton, who came along with the main volunteer group, the Sticklepath and Okehampton Con-servation Group.
A productive day saw the removal of scrub, brambles and gorse which had encroached a valuable Purple-Moor Grass-Rush habitat.
Paul said: 'It's great for South West Lakes Trust to work with local communities and conservation groups to undertake this vital work.
It is also fantastic to be able to provide opportunities for people of all abilities to experience our amazing sites.'
There are a variety of ways in which people can become involved in conservation volunteering at the lakes. Volunteering opportunities provide the chance to meet new people and learn new skills in an outdoor environment.
