A 14-year-old boy from the Okehampton area has been ordered to pay £30 by a court after admitting assaulting the park-keeper in Simmons Park.

The teenager admitted assaulting James McGahey occasioning actual bodily harm in an incident in the park on November 18 last year.

He appeared at the North and East Devon Youth Court, sitting in Exeter Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 25.

He was ordered to pay compensation to the victim of £30 and was also referred to the Devon Youth Offending Panel to work out a two month ‘contract’ to make amends. The panel will supervise him for eight months.
