AN unusual sponsorship partnership has been announced between the Okehampton-based Enchanted House Bed Company Ltd (EHB) and charity The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust (DPHT).

Through a variety of promotional concepts, sponsorships and donation ideas, Enchanted House is aiming to assist the DPHT with fundraising to support both its conservation work on Dartmoor and its education programmes for young people from both mainstream and special schools, using Dartmoor ponies as the ‘platform for learning’.

Stuart Cann, managing director of the Enchanted House Bed Company, said: ‘We are thrilled to be working with the DPHT as our official charity and see this relationship as a very comfortable, appropriate fit with our own aims. Our unique selling point is that we use our own Dartmoor wool, so there is a close connection with farming on Dartmoor and its iconic symbol — the Dartmoor pony.

‘We also admire the work the charity does to promote the superb temperament of the ponies and add value to them, especially through demonstrating how good they are at helping young people with a variety of complex needs to progress and succeed in life.’

DPHT and EHB were introduced through the Dartmoor Business Network — a forum for Devon — particularly Dartmoor — based organisations to find mutually beneficial opportunities to work together.

Judy Fawcett, chair of the DPHT, said: ‘We are amazed by the enthusiastic support offered to us by EHB. They have already helped us with a big kickstart to 2017 by donating a beautiful mattress for a silent auction when, along with income from our raffle, we raised over £1,300 towards the running of our Fresh Tracks programme at the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge event this May.

‘We are training 18 teenagers with a range of personal challenges to trek 12-miles across the moor with ponies. The funds raised by supporters such as EHB are critical to making it possible for us to equip the students, provide full training and enable a successful event.’
