EVERSFIELD Manor in Bratton Clovelly will open to the community for a weekend of art, music and food in aid of charity next month.
The event takes place on the weekend of June 10 and 11 and is free to enter.
The event is supporting Cancer Research UK and other community projects.
Eversfield Manor is being opened to the public for a weekend of pure enjoyment with wonderful walks in the imaginatively restored garden and woods, an exhibition of Gwynngala’s paintings, pottery, jewellery and sculpture and live music including the Tamar Classical Guitar Quartet.
The Bratton Clovelly WI will provide cream teas and the parish hall committee will be running a bar.
Local charity, Bratton Clovelly Festival, is organising the weekend in conjunction with the owners, Professor Bernard McNelis and Li Zhu.
Joanna Wallwork, chair of Bratton Clovelly Festival, said: ‘I am so grateful to Bernard and Li for allowing us to organise this event at Eversfield Manor. It provides the perfect setting for the art and for the community to enjoy a wonderful day out. I’m bowled over by their generosity.’
The Georgian house at Eversfield Manor, was built a little over 200 years ago, when the then squire owned much of the surrounding land and most of the cottages in the pretty village of Bratton Clovelly.
After the First World War, which took many of Bratton’s young farmers away, the estate was divided and the farms and cottages sold off.
Since then, the manor has had many owners and uses and, in the 1980s, much of the immediate grounds behind the house were used for pig farming. These are the buildings, now renovated, which will house the exhibition.
The event will also feature meat and veggie street food. For more information, visit: www.brattonclovelly festival.com
