RAMBLERS can join the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project and Dartmoor farmer Margaret Rogers for a farm walk at North Hall Manor at Widecombe in the Moor on Sunday, October 6.

The event consists of a one and a half to two-hour walk across the farm with Margaret, hearing about the life of a Dartmoor farmer and how they balance good production with wildlife and heritage conservation on this historic site, which was once a medieval manor.

The farm also stores Dartmoor National Park Authority's collection of vintage horse-drawn farm machinery, which it hopes to display and even restore in the future.

There has recently been a community archaeological dig at North Hall Manor and those attending the walk will hear more about what this revealed about the history of the site. The walk will be followed by tasters of the apple juice produced at North Hall Manor.

Each walk is £4 for adults and free for children. Booking is essential. Due to the presence of livestock, visitors are asked not to bring dogs, other than assistance dogs. The walk, from from 10am to noon, is not suitable for young children or buggies. To book email [email protected]">[email protected] or call the National Park Visitor Centre on 01822 890414.
