HISTORIAN Paul Rendell will give a talk about the film War Horse at the next meeting of the Okehampton and District Local History Society.

Paul will tell the story behind the Dartmoor locations used in the film, which was based on the story by local author Michael Morpurgo.

Last month members received a talk about the Chapel Royal from Richard Edwards, who also played recordings of the choir which sings in the Chapel. There will be no talk in January, but members will be having their annual lunch on January 16. In February, there will be a talk by Simon Dell on the history of the Ten Tors Challenge.

Paul Rendell's talk will take place at the meeting at the Ockment Centre on Wednesday, December 12 from 7.30pm.

Meetings of the History Society are held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 7.30pm in the Ockment Centre. New members are always welcome. Anyone interested should contact the secretary, Jane Lehni 01837 840087. Non-members may attend for £2 per person.
