FORMER Mayor of Okehampton, the late Joan Pauley, was remembered fondly when Barb Laughton came across this plaque above a seat at Porthcressa Beach on St Mary’s, the Isles of Scilly.

Barb had reminisced about the Scillies with Joan as it was where Barb had started her working life.

‘I can well imagine Joan sitting at the wonderful spot watching the world go by,’ said Barb.
