OKEHAMPTON film buffs can be among the first to see a new British indie comedy at Merlin's New Carlton Cinema, by taking part in the world's first interactive film launch.
Up There is a comedy set in the after-life, starring Burn Gorman and Kate O'Flynn, planned for release on November 16. The film follows Gorman's character, Martin, stuck in a dead-end job, welcoming the newly deceased into the after-life.
The film started life as a micro-budget short film that became an online hit. Its success led to it being made into a feature film, and the makers have decided to make the launch interactive online.
As part of the release, potential viewers can go online to watch the trailer, and click on a button to demand the film shows at their cinema. If enough people in an area click on the button, the film will be screened at the local cinema.
There is also an online competition where people write their own epitaphs and can win a collection of prizes, including bringing the UK premiere of the film to their local cinema.
