THE recent Exeter and District Cross Country Championships held at Okehampton College was a resounding success for the home teams.
Despite the course being quite wet and challenging and with 13 schools competing, the college students stuck to their guns and showed why they are a force to be reckoned with.
The year 7 boys, junior boys and senior boys all won the team competition and the intermediate boys were second. The junior and intermediate girls teams were both third. The senior girls did not run this time but are ready to take on the challenge in the next round.
There were star performances from:
Year 7 girls, Kaitlin Fletcher 4th; Year 7 boys, Brandon Horn 2nd, Tallon Burns 6th, Blake Lovejoy 8th, Samuel Jones 9th; junior girls, Alice Rubbra 2nd; junior boys, George Roberts 1st, Harrison Barker 2nd, Rhys Mellor Bond 4th, Josh Balsdon 5th; intermediate girls, Millie Wood 8th; intermediate boys, George Speak 1st; senior boys, Tom Gill 1st, Brennan Townshend 3rd, Bill Sharpe 4th .
The top 16 in each group go through to the next round (Exeter v East Devon) together with a few students who were unable to run this time.
This makes a total of 34 representatives from Okehampton College. After this competition the top 20 will be selected to run at the County Cross Country Championships in January.
