Devon Junior Cup preliminary round

Brixham U13s 20

Okehampton U13s 19

OKEHAMPTON were unlucky not to come away with a win against a well drilled and physical Brixham side.

After some even play for the first 10 minutes it was Brixham who got the points on the board first.

Okehampton picked themselves up and started to put pressure on the Brixham team but unluckily for them they conceded another score not long after with a quick break down the blind side. The rest of the half was all Okehampton and for the remaining five minutes they remained on Brixham's five metre line looking for their first score, but unfortunately half time came too quick.

Okehampton started the second half as they ended the first and were putting Brixham under alot of pressure.

Daniel Thorne went over to get Okehampton on the score board and not long after Liam Pyle repeated the process this try was converted, leaving the score 12-10 to Okehampton.

Unfortunately the away team were caught napping and let in two tries from Brixham to push them in front.

In the closing stages Joe Mawle crashed through the Brixham defence to get his first score of the season again converted to leave the final score with one point in it.

The Okehampton team were unlucky in the result but it was good to see them play with good team spirit and intention.

This game can be seen as the building block for good things to come from the young Okes. Although the whole team played well a mention should go to Daniel Van Staden, Alex Marden, Ross Davidson, William and Oliver King who all had a very good game.
