THERE was a great turnout for the Lifton Fete on Saturday, which helped the event to raise funds for the village school.

The crowd were entertained at the Recreational Field with lots of fun and games, a barbecue and other refreshments, raffle, stalls and pony rides.

The highlight of the event was the duck race, with more than 500 ducks entered where the winner was plucked from the water with a net in an exciting finish.

Organised by Friends of Lifton School the day raised a quacking £1,800. Some of the monies will go to treating the children to a pantomime over the Christmas.

The school thanked the FOLS for all their efforts and all the children, parents and the community who supported the event.
