FUNDS from a parachute jump, undertaken by a group of Okehampton girls two years ago, have helped to raise money for families with seriously ill children.

The Ronald McDonald House, based in Bristol, provides a service for families whose children are ill in hospital, offering them security and shelter during this difficult time.

The parachute jump by 'The Devonshire Lasses', along with various other events, raised a total of £6,500 and has helped cover the costs of running a room, named The Dartmoor by the girls, for the next five years.

The rooms are limited and expensive to maintain so the money that was raised via sponsorship from the area has helped immensely.

The girls, who have all stayed at the RMH in the past while their children have been in the Bristol Children's Hospital, intend to continue to support the charity for many more years to come.

The girls, Lisa Dawe, Liz Baker, Anna Chappell, Sue Hutt, Ebony Hutt, Stacy Schulmeyer and Alison Smith, are all from Okehampton. Another, Emma Gordon, lives near Crediton.
