THE new manager of Camplehaye Residential Home is putting a service improvement plan into place at the home — just a couple of weeks after being shortlisted for the Great British Care Awards.

Marta Broyd joined the home on November 2 and was nominated for the Care Home Manager Award in the Great South West Care Awards for her work at St Anne’s in Saltash. Marta has been living in Tavistock for four years.

She attended a glitzy awards dinner at Cheltenham racecourse on November 19 which is one of nine regional awards ceremonies celebrating excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to promote best practice within both the home care and care homes sectors, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated excellence within their field of work.

She said: ‘It was quite an honour to be among so many people who do so much great work in the care sector. It was a great experience. When I found out I was shortlisted I was taken aback — I couldn’t quite believe it.’

Camplehaye’s most recent CQC report listed the home as requiring improvement. Since her arrival Marta has put in a service improvement plan to make the required changes at the home.

She said: ‘We are making really fast progress here at Camplehaye. Hopefully if we stick to the improvement plan we will make the required improvements in very quick time.’
