A PUBLIC meeting has been called to address rotting timber support walls in an Okehampton housing development.
Residents in Broad Park have been suffering after walls fortified with timber and designed to support the gardens of properties on the development have started to rot. With the development built on the side of a steep hill on a former allotment site, the rotting of the log supports — which should have been designed to last a minimum of 50 years — has led to the possibility of gardens subsiding, leaving home owners to foot bills of thousands of pounds to sort the problem.
The public meeting at the Ockment Centre on Saturday, September 22 has been organised by Okehampton Town Councillor Tony Leech. He has invited representatives of the developer of the estate, Barratt Homes, to attend, along with Broad Park residents and anyone else concerned by the damage.
The meeting is being held with the intention of discussing what can be done to help those living in the properties.
The meeting takes place in the Ockment Centre on Saturday from 11am to 1pm. All are welcome to attend.
