INTERNATIONALLY known singer-songwriter and campaigner on justice, peace and poverty issues Garth Hewitt will be performing in Okehampton tomorrow (Friday).

His new tour is called Hymns of Liberation and his organisation, the Amos Trust, says it 'will be a hopeful, joyful evening, telling stories of some of those whom Garth has visited in the Holy Land and South Africa'.

The event has been organised by the churches of the Northmoor Team Ministry.

A spokesman for the ministry said: 'Garth's commitment to working alongside the struggling people of the world is absolute, his advocacy of their issues is strong in his music and his presentations.'

Any profit made by the event will support the work of Amos Trust partners around the world. Amos Trust partners are at the heart of a global network of highly innovative community projects.

These include work with street children in South Africa; promotion of human rights and sustainable communities for Dalits in rural India; community development and education provision in Nicaragua and working toward peace and reconciliation in Palestine and Israel.

The concert will take place at All Saints Church, Okehampton, at 7.30pm. Tickets £5 on the door or in advance from 01822 820564.
