GARETH Hedges and Mandy Porteous are among the artists performing at Okehampton Acoustic Club on July 12. Gareth learnt songs with his friends by listening to LPs of early blues and folk artists. He was road manager for a number of American roots musicians who were performing in Europe, and continues to be inspired by famous bluegrass, folk and blues musicians from America. Mandy, from Bradninch, writes mellow and witty music, and promises to perform an accomplished set. Dynamic folk duo Roholio will also perform. The do is made up of singer songwriter and instrumentalist Roseanna Ball, and Mike Lake on double bass, vocals and guitar. They will be joined by club founders Troubadour's Garden. Doors to the evening at the Ockment Centre open at 7.30pm, with entry costing £2.50. People are welcome to bring their own refreshments.
