THE steak pie lunch, held in the Victory Hall for parish church funds, was again a popular event, attracting approximately 80 people, The Rev Ruth Hansford said 'Grace' before the meal, also thanking all who helped to cook and prepare it.
A profit of £454 was made.
THE women's guild and fellowship met in the Methodist Hall. The meeting began with devotions led by Mrs E Peak and Miss B Curtis.
An interesting and enjoyable afternoon was spent as Mrs Marlene Mahoney presented the second afternoon about her Egyptian holiday, with photographs being shown and a DVD of historical tombs and scenery, in the desert and towns, also stunning scenes of the deep sea fish of many varieties and colours.
The afternoon concluded with tea served by Mesdames J Friend and G Curtis.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday March 17 at 2.30pm.
THE Victory Hall Committee will be holding one of its popular 'Brunches' on Saturday March 20, from midday to 2pm. This will be in the hall, cost £5, for hall funds.
MRS Maurie Webber conducted the service of holy communion at the parish church. Organist was Mr D Chivers and Mrs T Haycock read the lesson. The sidesman was Mrs P Carter.
On Mothering Sunday the family service will be at 10am and all are welcome.
