OKEHAMPTON’S Harvest Workers’ Co-operative is presenting an exciting film screening tomorrow (Friday) to start off the New Year – a thought-provoking piece that documents positive solutions for a better future.

The film, Demain (Tomorrow), will be screened at the town’s Ockment Centre in the main hall at 6.30pm.

The Harvest Workers’ Co-op started up as a co-operative and social enterprise in July last year. Its seven members have a jam-packed schedule of more educational events for the new year that focus on the theme of food and farming.

On Saturday (January 20) there will be a creative family workshop at the Eco Hub, Okehampton and a farm visit to Viveka Gardens Yoga Farm on Sunday, January 28 – there are also many spring workshops in the pipeline to get local people engaged in thinking about their food sources.

The social enterprise had their first film screening in October last year, which welcomed more than 50 local people to watch another farming-focused film and enjoy delicious home-cooked food.

Other events have included creative workshops, wreath making, bread baking and some in-store photography exhibitions. Support is funded by the Okehampton United Charities to enable local people to attend these workshops, film screenings and farm visits.
