THERE were quite a few ladies – and men – in red in Okehampton on Sunday (July 14) when the Okement Hash House Harriers staged a Red Dress Run.

The fundraiser was this year in aid of North Devon Hospice which cared for one of the club’s younger members, Chris Laughton, who sadly died from cancer earlier this year.

One of Chris’s sons, George, joined other members for the social run which set off from The Fountain Inn mid morning, fortified by bacon butties provided by owners Alan and Lynn.

The runners followed a trail over four miles, collecting donations as they went and finishing at The Fountain for much-needed refreshment.

The run has so far raised £306.47 with several donations still to come. The social running club meets every Sunday at 11am to do a cross-country run/walk following a previously laid trail.
