WHILST serving Okehampton East as a West Devon Borough Councillor, I became concerned about members who were on two or more councils — ie, town and borough, or county, and in some cases all three.

This situation must, at times, mean that residents cannot be properly represented due to the 'conflict of interest' this causes.

I fully appreciate that councillors are eager to help their communities to the best of their abilities, and we are grateful for that, but would we not be better served if our representatives were on one sector of the council at a time?
