THE 11th Ruby Run took place on Sunday in beautiful sunshine in a race that attracted runners from all over the South West.
This year the half marathon race started at Hatherleigh and finished 13 miles later at Holsworthy.
It was a great day for Okehampton Running Club's Roger Voaden who came home in second place.
The winner was Ian Gooding of Torrington, who set a new course record of 1 hour 14 minutes 49 seconds.
He was followed by ORC Roger Voaden of Okehampton in 1.25.10 while third was David Beckenkrager of Plymouth, 1.25.27.
There was more success for ORCs as in the over 35s first female was Karen Vallance who came home in 1.54.16.
First female was Helen Heard of Holsworthy, 1.41.20; second Steph Olliffe of Torrington, 1.43.31 and third Jane Lockyer of Liskeard, 1.50.13.
First male over 40, Matthew Lawson, 1.26.43; first male over 50, Steve Hay 1.26.04; first male over 60 Malcolm Roberts, 1.31.57; first female over 35 Karen Vallance, 1.54.16; first female over 45, Ellen Hall 1.53.20; first female over 55, Christine Le Fem, 2.02.04
The relay race was won by Team Bude Rats.
The event includes walkers who raise money, along with the runners, for charity. This year the Ruby Run is supporting Children's Hospice South West and some small local charities.
