TWO Okehampton ladies will take part in the Great South Run this month, to raise money for the MS Society.

On October 27 Carole Cornwall and Ali Holliday will run ten miles in Portsmouth to raise money for the charity. Over the space of a few days in April, Carole's 19 year old son lost the sight in one eye and became paralysed from the chest down. He spent three months in Wonford Hospital, and then Mardon Rehabilitation Centre while he slowly regained feeling and learnt to walk and do everyday tasks again.

After temporarily losing the sight in his other eye, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He had regained his mobility, and though his sight has only returned to one eye, he is learning to live with the life-changing condition.

Thanks to donations from their families, friends and fellow runners at Okehampton Running Club, the duo have raised over £300 so far. If you would like to sponsor them, visit http://www.justgiving.com/carole-cornwall">www.justgiving.com/carole-cornwall
