Scientist to give Ruby Lecture

RESEARCH scientist Professor Les Firbank will be the guest speaker at this year's Ruby Lecture.

The event takes places on Tuesday, November 25 at Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall and is organised by the Red Ruby Country Initiative, whuch provides funding support local businesss and training for local people.

Prof Les Firbank is director of the Wyke Research, near Okehampton, which researches grassland systems science.

At the inaugural Ruby Lecture last year, there was standing room only and organisers promise 'a thought-provoking and interesting evening'.

It starts at 7pm and there will also be a presentation of the inaugural Ruby Business Award.
