A BRAND new bushcraft event is being held to help children learn a range of skills, including fire lighting techniques, campfire cookery, green woodcraft and animal tracking.
The children will get the chance to practice their new skills and make something from natural materials to take home.
Forestry Commission Ranger Glyn Bradbury, who is running the event, said: 'We run a number of bushcraft events in West Devon, but these will be the first all day events.
'We will be able to teach much more in depth bushcraft skills and children will have a chance to try them out before they go home.
'I think these events will offer a fun and active family day out during half-term.'
The first event will be for children aged between four and eight and the second for children aged between eight and 12.
The campfire cookery is a tasting session only, so children will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
All day bushcraft will cost £15 per child and accompanying adults will go free. Booking a place is essential.
The event will be held on Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29 on the Forestry Commission estate in Cookworthy Forest.
To book a place phone 01392 834233.
