A LOOK back over Okehampton weather over the past year reveals that the area had eight months of warmer weather than normal — and two months of colder weather than normal.

Okehampton's warmest day reached 27.5 C on July 1, even though July was recorded as the second wettest month of the year.

The coldest temperature recorded last year was -7.5c on the night of January 7.

November was the wettest month of the year with 302.1 mm of rainfall, making it the fifth wettest November in the area since 1870.

February will be remembered for heavy snow early in the month — on February 5 the town saw the heaviest night of snowfall with 45.3mm. On February 9 and 10 the Okement rivers became raging torrents as large amounts of snow on the moor melted.

The Ten Tors in May was blessed with warm, dry weather and June, too, was mainly warm and dry except for a four-day wet spell early in the month.

July was the second wettest month of the year and the tenth wettest in July in the Okehampton area since 1870.

The wettest month of the year was November — the 302.1mm of rainfall made it the fifth wettest in the area since 1870.
