WHAT used to be an enjoyable stroll through Okehampton with our children on the school run, across the bridges, spotting the squirrels and ducks, is becoming more and more disgusting. Why? Because of the minority of dog owners that think it is okay to allow their dogs to foul the streets.

We find we are enjoying our surroundings less and less as we have to keep our eyes on where we are putting our feet for fear of stepping in the disgusting brown stuff.

This view is shared by many as you hear conversations of others in passing, 'something needs to be done,' 'isn't it disgusting,' etc. There's even been mess on the hill leading up to the school, which is totally unacceptable.

Something needs to be done. More penalty notice signs? Increased policing? Increased penalties? A couple of dog mess bins? Bag dispensers for owners caught short without a bag to pick it up?

I must say the majority of dog owners in Okehampton are responsible and courteous. Let's stop the minority spoiling our town!
