YOUNGSTERS at Boasley Cross Primary will be growing their own vegetables at the school thanks to a special visitor.

Theresa Edwards from Waitrose in Okehampton visited the primary to present pupils with their Grow and Sell Seed Kit during a school assembley.

She said: 'Waitrose Okehampton is very excited to be presenting seed kits to four of our local primary schools and Boasley Cross  has been one of of the four selected. The aim is to help children understand the journey from field to plate as evidence shows those who participate in growing projects are more likely to eat a wider variety of foods and make good nutritional choices throughout their lives.'

Children are encouraged to sell their produce to Waitrose customers to raise funds for school, or to eat healthily using their own produce in the school dining room.'
