I POPPED into the Museum of Dartmoor Life for its fun day recently with my grand-daughter. What a treasure it is! It was fun, fascinating and full of good things.
I am ashamed to say that it has been a long time since I have looked around and there is so much to see that I will have to go back, probably more than once.
Of course my grand-daughter was drawn into all the games and activities, particularly in the Olympic Exhibition, but also fascinated by the Bronze Age hut, the toys from Victorian days and the fantastic film about life on a Dartmoor farm.
Okehampton is very lucky to host this gem of a museum and I felt myself feel pride by association as I heard foreign visitors exclaiming at what a good museum it is. I know that it runs because of the support of volunteers — thank you!
