THE residents of North Tawton have always been great supporters of the work of the Royal National Institute of Blind.
Every week a raffle is held in the town and since counting began, more than £50,000 has been raised for RNIB's Talking Book Service.
Rose and Carole Dadds, along with a group of friends and helpers, are holding a coffee morning, starting at 10am on September 11 in the town hall.
Rose said: 'You'll find the best home-made sponges and cakes for miles around — all are very welcome to come along and join in the fun, and maybe even win a prize in the raffle!'
Tables are still available at £4 each, and can be booked by contacting Rose on 01837 82130.
Rose added: 'Please support this event — every day another 100 people begin to lose their sight, and 50% of this is preventable.'
More than 50 new books for the RNIB Talking Book Library have been produced thanks to the efforts of the people of North Tawton. From Harry Potter to Agatha Christie, there are 15,000 titles in the library.
