Okehampton 2
Taunton C S 2
OKEHAMPTON looked to extend their winning hockey run against a good Taunton Civil Service team and started brighty looking threatening with a few promising attacks.
Brett Lawson had a good chance missing the far post by inches and the away side struck the bar with a drag flick from a short corner.
Luke Liversidge made some wonderful tackles at the back for Oke to keep the visitors at bay and the game remained tight for the rest of the first half. Taunton took the lead not long into the second half which rattled the home side but the lead did no last to long.
The hosts introduced Chris Luxton at half time, returning from injury. He made an immediate impact, working hard after making a mistake to win possession back and find Josh Speak who in turn found Mark Parsons who skipped past two defenders before slotting the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
Civil then retook the lead after the home side lost the ball and got countered on, leaving keeper Andy Harvey exposed and helpless to prevent the goal.
Okehampton rallied again though and Luxton had a goal disallowed before Luke Miller pounced on a poor clearance and he found Parsons who smashed the ball past the goalkeeper's head to equalise again.
The game continued to produce chances and Josh Balsdon made some excellent runs for Oke and played some superb balls into the area which the attackers were unable to reach.
In the end a draw was a fair result as Okehampton did not really play well enough to get the win.
