Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band is looking for new band members in a bid to get more young and beginner players in the group.

Laura Beardon, media contact for the band, said: ’We are always looking for new members and want to get younger players involved.

’You don’t have to be able to play or own an instrument. We will provide that.’

This comes following a grant of over £3,000 from the Co-op which was used to update instruments and practice spaces and invest in better teaching in order to train new musicians to a high standard.
