Okehampton U12s 21
Bude U12s 7
ON a hot Sunday morning it was always going to be tough to play a game of rugby. Okehampton applied the early pressure but Bude's defence held strong until half way through the first half where Oke managed to touch down to open the scoring. It wasn't long after when Oke broke the line again to increase their score line.
Bude began to rally and started to put Okehampton under pressure especially in the second half of the game. The pressure paid off and the Bude scrum half dived for the line to open the scoring for the visiting team. Oke not to be out done gathered themselves and pressured Bude's try line which paid off.
This was a bit of a scrappy game with lots of infringements and no real flow but both teams tried to play some good running rugby. Okehampton tries were scored were by Joe Mawle, Jack Dickinson and Daniel Thorne; .conversions by Daniel Thorne and Liam Pyle

OKEHAMPTON won this end of season battle, however the performance had a very 'end of the season' feel to it. After the festival successes of the last two weeks, Oke thought they just had to turn up to win but then struggled to perform and had to battle their way to victory.
Oke took the lead through a good support try from Nya Binjewel, Corey Holliday converting. The lead was stretched before the interval with a typical forceful effort form Greg Daniel, converted by Adam Wonnacott.
After being 14-0 up at the interval, Oke made changes and went off the boil. Poor tackling allowed Bude back into the match with a converted score. Finally Oke began to move the ball and Ollie Ardon scored a good individual try after a swift counter attack. Cory Holliday added the extra two.
The match was wrapped up when Ethan Hoggins showed good strength and determination to plunder a try from the back of an attacking lineout. Leon Horne converted.
Oke U11s play their last match this season away to Exeter Chiefs on Sunday.

GOOD defending from Bude at the start stopped Okehampton's run and gave them the opportunity to race for their line, but Oke managed to bundle them out for a line-out.
A good break from Okes' Tom Stevens (with 2 tries) saw the ball passed out through the backs, before he caught it again to score his first try. This was followed quickly by an end to end sprint from Daichi (3) allowing him over the line for try number two.
Undeterred Bude slipped through to put the ball down and scored but due to strong defending from Oke this proved to be their only try of the day and at the interval the score was 15-5.
The whole Okehampton team played really well with joint players of the match Tom Stevens and Daichi.
In the second half a really good run from Immy, who laid the ball back allowed Tom S to score again. Tom P, Gareth, Kai, Alex and Will made some great breaks and some strong scrumaging from Oke won them the ball for Brad (1) to score. Nathan pushed his way through determinedly to put the final points on the board.
An extra 10 minute 'friendly' took place after this in which Immy, Nathan, Tom S and Daichi scored a try each.

OKEHAMPTON played their final regular fixture of the season on a hot day, on a rock hard pitch with the added pressure of maintaining their unbeaten record. That pressure was no where to be seen as they swept aside a spirited Bude side running in 17 tries.
Will Cunningham 3, Cole Pengelley 3 and Jordan Mills 3 all scored three each, with Jordan and Cole making some strong tackles. Ethan Wilds (1) and Ben Wharton 2 both made some elusive runs rewarding them with well deserved tries.
George Cox, Mathew Denning, Saul Holliday (1) and Charlie Glanville worked hard throughout driving the side forward on every occasion when in possesion of the ball. Dan Wonnacott and Sonny Luxton gave good controlled performances setting up second phase ball well. Daniel Tomkins had a strong game carrying the ball with real confidence. Jake Laing-Taylor (2) and Harry Laing-Taylor (1) worked tirelessly for their team turning Bude ball over and scoring great breakaway tries while Robert Whitby is improving with each match, making some good carries.
One of the final plays saw Oke pressurising a Bude attack to allow Joshua Burgoyne (1) to score a cheeky interception try.
This was an excellent win for the side to end on and well deserved. Well done to all the players on a superb season.
OKEHAMPTON U7s travelled to the annual tag rugby festival at Ivybridge , they played four games in fantastic sunshine . With more than 25 children coming to training every Friday the squad was made up of children who are moving to the U8s next season .
Oke's blue team played two matches against Salcombe and Barnstaple and came away with victories in both games . The team were Joe Duffy , Marcus Reed, Jacob Luxton, Finlay Tabor , Josh Glanville , Llew Rogers and Cameron Keegan . Both games were of a high standard with excellent tagging and support play, each player gave 100 per cent .
Oke's red team again played two matches against Exeter Saracens and Dartmouth and lost by one try in both games . The team were Aedan Lethbridge , Ethan Drew, Alex Harrison, Holly Keast , Chris Taylor and Isaac Whitby .
Once again in very hot conditions the whole team proved how much they have improved with their never say die sprit covering every inch of the pitch. The teams tagging was first class and were very unlucky to come away without a victory .
Credit goes to all of the players, who put in a lot of hard work, and behaved impeccably, on what was a very hot day Also a big thank you to all the parents/guardians who have supported us this season.
