TAD Ford, an energetic and inquisitive border collie, was last month's deserving winner of Okeford Vets' Braveheart Awards.
The award is given to animals that have shown remarkable bravery during their treatment at the practice.
Tad was seen at the practice after severely damaging his foot while exploring his garden. His owner was at a loss as to how he hurt himself.
Some of the skin on his left foot had been completely shredded, exposing muscle and blood vessels.
He had also damaged his pads leaving them raw and exposed.
While under general anaesthetic Tad had one of his toes removed as it was unsalvageable and the remaining skin was sutured together.
A bandage was placed to protect his foot from the environment and to stop Tad from licking his wounds. Tad's owner took him in for his dressing changes every three days and nearly one month later Tad was 'signed off' and is thoroughly enjoying life again.
